    Choosing Cultural Topics

    In deciding on cultural topics for our materials, one important element is relevance to life outside the classroom. In Auf geht's! for example, we try to give students a basic framework for understanding Germany, Austria and Switzerland in a way that will connect with people students meet and general media coverage of these countries.

    One good example is our section in unit 8 in Auf geht's! on Europe, where we provide a crash-course on the EU. Students may not 'get it' at the moment ...
